Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP)

The FSVP course provides an understanding of the new responsibilities for food importers to improve the safety of human and animal food. The rule imposes requirements on importers, not foreign suppliers, to verify the food they import meets US safety standards. FSVP Importers are required to develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP for each food imported. For further information click here.

Why take this training:

  1. Having a trained Qualified Individual oversee your FSVP program is the first step to complying with the FSVP regulation. Compliance with FSVP is the law! It has been the law for since 2017.

  2. This course can be one step to being recognized as a Qualified Individual

  3. Failure to have an FSVP program can result in FDA regulatory action, up to removal of your FDA Food Facility Registration. In other words, you can no longer operate.

  4. Many of the provisions of FSVP can be quite confusing, such as who is the FSVP importer?

    • This course will clarify what you need to do to stay on the FDA’s good side.

    • This course discusses records required for compliance.

    • How must the FSVP Importer be Identified at custom’s entry?
